Mercedes compromised the gear knob and boot design after the first facelift, making them look cheap—surprising for an S-Class, especially since the pre-facelift versions were much better.
While I generally love the W108/109 model, the long version isn’t my favorite. Unlike the 80s Lincoln Town Car with short rear doors, this one has doors and windows that feel too long.
Yes, there’s more rear space, but let’s be honest—these cars are now mostly bought for their style, not comfort. Personally, I’d prefer the short version and would swap the gear knob and boot for the pre-facelift ones.
