@OldBritannia

I hope you enjoy this (very long) documentary on the origins of the First World War. Apologies that it has meant months of inactivity. I did want to write a post talking about what was happening, but whenever I came to do so it always came out reading like a rather crude attempt to funnel people to the Patreon, since I have been uploading the chapters there as I make them. So I thought it best to just get on with things, though I didn't quite anticipate how long this was going to take in the end!

Now the video is out though, big thank you all my Patrons for your support and reviewing the chapters for me.

I had originally intended to release the entire documentary in one. But the project has ballooned well beyond what I imagined, and I think more than 3 hours at a time is a bit much even for the most avid fans of nasally Lancashire accents. Part 2 shouldn't be too much longer - there we will look at Agadir, Russia's Resurgence, the Arms Race between the Great Powers and their War Plans, and the final build up to war.

Sorry again for the time it has taken, I hope you enjoy it nonetheless. Thank you all for watching.

Bro left for 9 months and then casually returned with this banger. Legend!

@CallMeEzekiel

This video is a triumph of research, presentation, and hilarious epigrams. I hope you're proud of it.

@HiddeninHistoryAnimations

What makes this documentary so compelling is how it captures the slow, inevitable unraveling of a world that thought itself invincible. You can feel the weight of every decision, every alliance, every misjudged move.

@breeie9900

Dude I thought you quit and I fell deep into the depths of despair. You have no idea how spectacular this moment is for me.

"Jarvis, clear my afternoon schedule, new Britannia vid just dropped"

@christopherflynn350

Three hours of Old Britannia!? Splendid.

My man leaves for 9 Months, returns with a masterpiece.

@eagle_and_the_dragon

If ever there were a more convenient video for a man working 12hr security shifts today, tomorrow and Monday.

We are so back

@CaiVanDoorn

I'm already getting goosbumps; the fact that this is three hours of straight, documentary quality information, from one of Youtube's most thoroughly consice, detailed, and professional sources... my day is full. This is all there is now

@KnownNiche1999

"So, Wilhelm, why did you decide to start World War I?"

"To answer that question Tucker, we have to go back to the Prusso-Danish war of 1864..."

@Kidd-In-Charge

3:02:09 WAIT THIS IS PART ONE!!!!!!!!

@ninonysoft6865

Damn. I was like "where is old Britannia, I missed their videos" only for them to come back cooking up an absolute feast. Gonna watch this later when I have some free time, but commenting for engagement and welcome back! I really appreciate your videos. A lot of history videos tend to just focus on military and battles so having the political backdrop and background is vital to understanding why conflicts happen.

@eddaniels4731

we are so back, excited to watch!

@DeanMonsieur

Now THAT’S how you make a YouTube video. Wow. Incredible work.

@randallconway2966

I'm a political scientist who has watched this channel for years. This is a crowning achievement! Well done.

@BlueBerryHunter

I was kinda sad for no new posts for 9 months then I saw this. And it has all been worth it

@danimalplanet18

There was a quite comprehensible 1,5 hr documentary on Netflix, but that was very centered around the Balkans and the Bosnian Question. This is taking a much broader approach from anything since the Franco-Prussian War: well done. I wrote a Master Thesis on the subject ca. 20 years ago, it's all coming back to me now...
