Treaty of London

Italy took 1 state
Deutscher Moon was annexed

@Ace-rp7vr

Italy also hated the Austrians for constantly trying to stop Italy from becoming whole

@riccardomarinaro3061

Italy and Austria were always enemies, but they had just one friend in common

@MrMadre

The "Treaty of London"
Do you have any idea how little that narrows it down?

@lucatamagnini1638

1. Italy and Austria hated each other (a lot of reasons). Italy wanted territories from Austria that had a lot of Italians in it and key ports. But they bouth wanted to be german friends so they ended up allied.

2. The alliance Germany,Italy,Austria had was a defensive alliance. Austria was the aggressor in WW1 and didnt even bother to tell Italy they were about to start a global war and if they were cool with it. So italy didnt think it was forced to join the war.

3. Italy decided to join the side that offer the most for their help. That side ended up being the French and UK.

@PizzaChess69

The worst thing about betrayal? It never comes from the enemy.

@thespokenwriter8778

Fun fact at the time of Italy joining the war France was so spread thin on its front even the relocation of 3-5 divisions would have led to the complete collapse of French lines. It was so bad in parts especially near verdun in which the request for injured and crippled soldiers to be removed from their positions was rejected as they couldn’t spare reinforcements in the fight against Germany. So if Italy joined the central alliance I would expect the entire French and allied army to face a collapse that would be catastrophic and would have actually won the war for the central alliance. As an entire new front would open up and it would not have the strength to fend off the Italians or maybe it would but as a result would not be able to defend of the Germans because of the Italians.

@josiahcain4176

The Italians were promised far more then depicted here. Not only did the UK and France promise the entirety of the dalmatian coastline, but Italy was also promised control over Albanian political matters as well as a sizable chunk of land in southern Anatolia. Additionally, supporting the central powers, even if they somehow won, would have led to international isolation and would have meant still relying on the austro hungarians.

@MettMapping

Actually Italy was i the triple alliance whit Germany and Austria but It was a defensive Alliance and the two declared war whitout asking Italy.
Entente: south Tyrol, Dalamatia, Trieste, protectorate in Albania, land un Libya, some Land in Somalia and south Turkey.
Central powers: Savoy, Nice, Tunisia, south Tyrol, Corsica, protectorate in Albania, Abyssinia, British Somalia, Land in Libya and Djibouti.

@tristanomalley6705

So just so you know it didn’t I don’t think at least know they were gonna get that little land from the allies, they thought they were gonna get more of the Baltics and that’s one of the reasons they joined in World War II

@Literally_A_Dragon

I love how every video you make about Italy, “Bella Ciao” plays in the background

@mobius1389

You are forgetting the most important thing: Italy and Austria were historical enemies. Austria was perceived as the last obstacle towards ultimate unification; from the Italian perspective, WWI was the "Third War of Independence".

Austria was seriously considering attacking Italy after the 1908 Messina earthquake (~100.000 deaths), as resources were diverted towards reconstruction.

When the war started, the frontline was fortified. Austria had been expecting another war with Italy for quite some time.

@pingoleonfernandez7638

One of my greatgrandfathers fought for Italy on that war. He was born an Austrian in Trentino and took sides with Italy. He always had terrifying memories from that horrid experience, and a number of scars in his body. Dude was really nuts.

@alessandromarini1228

also the central powers was a defensive alliance, and Austria, which Italy hated, declared war without telling them

@SmallPotato2313

Its important to note here that the pact between germany austria-hungary and italy was a defensive pact and italy justified not joining in the war by this.

@Username86486

I love that the Treaty of London at the end says "1. Italy joins the war and sends hundreds of thousands of men to die in the alps just to gain a few square centimeters of land." You can literally replace "alps" and "Italy" with and battle location and nation involved in said battle to summarize any battle of World War I

@randomITAmofo

Very nice but just for your information the song u used is a song from WW2 not WW1

@parrotlord7393

At the end of the war they got barley any land that was promised that’s why Mussolini took charge and teamed up with Germany

@parrotwastaken

Rise of nations mentioned🔥

@It-Is-Settera

In summary Italy was promised gaine in Austria if they joined the Entente. Facing this Italy decided to join. At the end of the war Italy got barely any of the lands promised by the Entente. This allowed Mussolini to gain power, promising that in his rule he’d obtain what the allies promised and failed to give them
