one of the most attractive color combinations i've ever seen on one these beauties!

Restoration is easy. My dad and I bought an MGA. As we took it apart, we realized we had no idea what we were doing. We called a guy who came and got it, and he had it looking good and running perfectly in no time!

@jonmce1

So great to see one running and the engine note. Drive at 80km/hr and feels like 140. I had one at university and it was very old then. Now I have a pile of rust in the garage that claims to be one. Sadly I'll probably never get around to restoring it.

gorgeous sound, colour form!

Curves are brilliant

Many years ago when I was only around 20 years old, I bought a used 59 MGA convertible, the car had worn-out paint and interior, I brought it to a mechanic and had the engine rebuilt, If I remember right it was around 1200 dollars for the rebuild. I don't remember what I paid for the car, he was a nice Spanish man who had this little garage, and two or three workers. I used to go there every few days with my girl friend and her sister to see him working on the car, I think one of the mechanics was jealous of me for some reason. he used to give me these looks, anyway the owner of the garage did a great job with the engine, I can remember driving down the freeway and the car just purred, but when I got home I noticed some oil on the ground, and then I noticed the screw came out at the bottom of the engine, I called the mechanic, and he picked the car up and went over it all over again and made sure it was ok. but I always felt like maybe the guy who would give me the funny looks, loosened the screw before I drove off with it. so after that I drove the car for a few months and it drove like a dream, but then the power started go away, and I was not sure what was going on, and then one day the engine got really bad and barely drove, when I started looking over the car I realized there was no oil filter, and once again I suspected that one guy, because the owner took allot of pride in his work and would never of left out an oil filter, but I also blame myself for not checking or noticing it sooner. anyway I tried to get in touch with the mechanic and the garage was gone. and I didn't have money at the time to rebuild it again. so I parked it, then I ended up moving and there was no parking on the street, so I had to pay a neighbor who I didn't know to store it on there property, but I had no money, and after a while I had to sell the car. when the guy bought it I had bran new Crome bumpers and a bran new wood dash board with all the new nobs still in boxes because I never got to the point of restoring it. the guy who bought it put it on a truck and when he was about to get in the truck to leave the guy saw that I had tears in my eyes. he said why the tears. and I said because I love this car. so he said why are you selling it. and I said I had no choice that I needed the money to survive, and then he drove away, and I watched my favorite car in the world drive down the street on top of a truck, and to this day I miss that car. it drove like a go cart, it was just a joy to drive, and also I was born in 1959. so I always felt this extra connection with the car. and what was amazing, is even tho the outside had totally worn out paint, I would stop at a red light, and a guy in a bran new Corvette would pull next to me and open his window and say to me, cool car.

In around 1966 at 18 years old I bought a 1961MGA 1600 for$425 Canadian. It was every $ I earned that summer. The following spring I painted it British Racing Green just like this car. My brother and I drove it the following summer and had many adventures with it. After that summer I sold it because it cost me $250 or half the value of the car itself to insure it just fo 3 months.

@rogerenever6325

Great shots. Shows off the car's best lines.

@patrickcalders8941

I know this is a long time ago, but would you happen to know which colour this car is painted ? I find it absolutely gorgeous ! Many thanks.

I bought a 1961 MGA 1600 in 1966. Cost me an entire summer’s wages ... $425 Canadian. As an 18 year old it cost me $250 .... more than half what I paid for the car just to insure it for 3 months.

@larryplacher4429

Had a 1953 blue MGA man what a chick magnet , it was cool ride too

@michaellock9618

They had a booming engine I remember.

@tomikiti1

@stevezodiac491

Sounds exactly the same as my father's Morris 1000 traveler when he had it.

@amirabbasgt1

Once MG was MG including the mini cooper. But now.. even the first MG SUV is literally Chinese Baojun (Wuling Almaz which is Made in Indonesia) and rebadged worldwide as Chevrolet Captiva 2019
