It's always nice to see when other artists are open to saying just how long a piece took them. I recently finished a new sculpture that I spent 200+ hours on and had someone say something like, "Not to be THAT person, but I could have done this in a weekend." It looks awesome, Blake!

@Eisbare

I used to volunteer at a natural history museum and asked a biologist about those "tooth holes above their gums". They are channels for blood vessels to bring oxygen and nutrients to the more extreme parts of large bones. They can still be seen in the skulls of modern whales! You do amazing work, and your passion for your trade shows.

@sarahcole5452

the way i ran to the website as if i'd ever be able to afford something like this... just know that if i ever become disgustingly wealthy the first thing i'd do is display this beautiful skull in my mansion. hell i'd display it in my apartment. this is so freaking cool and has honestly inspired me to try making something like it (but like out of foam or smth i don't have a workshop lol)

@elevagecanarisetoiseauxexo6881

A Triceratops Skull will be also amazing !!!!

@lyricallord3312

The wood pellet idea is fun. We always love a good recycle, but you'd want two different sawdust bins, one for regular sawdust and one for sawdust from glued up pieces. I'd assume burning glue fumes wouldn't be good for your food or lungs. Anyway. Great job, as always! I love dinosaurs too, so I was excited to see this one. It'd be cool to see other dino projects in the future.

@iceblackrose1

I think it belongs in a museum, honestly... it's just so vibrant and beautiful.

@thematt6705

4:35 Others have already pointed out the correct use of "putting your head in the sand" so I wanted to add, I believe the expression you're searching for is "putting your nose to the grind stone" which describes concentrating on what you're doing.

@parch_mentpaper

As a certified t-rex lover when I was eight, great job man!

@Septic-Hearts

I actually love the idea of your repurposing your sawdust, I've heard of people using it for gardens, cushioning or using it for other projects somehow but your grill pellets idea sounds like a great way of doing that. Idk, I always like seeing artists make the most of their output for things.

@jennifercalimer4217

If i had $50,000 and a place to display this masterpiece you bet I'd jump on that!
Absolutely beautiful!!

@mekkiepoo

Never poll the internet about material choices. You as an artist always know better about what will bring your idea to life. Names, however? Yeah the internet knows better than you. Lloyd looks amazing! ❤

@debshipman4697

Knowing when to stop adding the touches is my hardest part when creating. This sculpture is astounding!!!

@dianahenderson

I didn't realize just how beautiful black limba wood can be...thank you for over riding your poll! Awesome sculpture!

@RamDragon32

To put one's head in the sand means to hide from obvious dangers and ignore warnings. It comes from the false belief that ostriches bury their heads to "hide" from predators. I've never heard anyone use that phrase to mean get to work.

To put your head down and get to work comes from the practice of students and office workers focusing on their task, and I believe that was the intended phrase.

Love the sculpt. You are right, that is the perfect wood for it.

Fusion 360 has a tool that will slice a model into desired thicknesses, meaning you could cut out a lot more waste before glue-up prior to sculpt. Especially useful for getting those interior cavities done, and reducing the starting weight of the block. Though, now I'm looking it looks like the tool is no longer updated, but that's what fivrr is for.

@kenenigans

If I had a giant mansion and all the money I could ever need, I would literally hire you to make sculptures for said mansion. Sadly I live in a small apartment and I don't think this sculpture would even fit through my entryway (nor do I have the funds to buy it) 😂 It looks amazing. So much detail, and you can really see the passion you have for this.

@magicman12b

Ok, some key points
- Last T-Rex Skull was awesome. This one is phenomenal
- Great choice with the Black Limba lumber
- Much better pedestal setup and the lighting is far superior to the previous design
- Great way to Inc,use the family in sculpture process

@JeffersonLucas-od2sx

Next time you do a Dino you should carve a triceratops skull. I feel like that would be really cool! 😊

@TheMK123

13:52 Lloyd does feel like a name a real specimen would be given. I mean, we have Sue, Stan, Scotty, Jane, etc. All T. rexes

@raashtu

Congrats Blake, this looks amazing! You must be so proud of Lloyd
