Hey Daniel, Can really relate to your frustration with the welder. I brought my TR3 fenders to a metal fabricator/ body-man, said he could have them ready for paint within 90 days. Over the next couple months I brought him bonnet, trunk lid, spare cover, doors, each time I came to check progress on fenders he had not started yet, he reassured he would have them in paint by Dec. As soon as he was finished with that other car. This went on and on and on. He would do a little repair on something of mine and get my hopes up give another timeline for getting it in the paint booth.  The man knew his trade the parts I saw finished where like new. The problem there not my TR pieces!!  I allowed my hopes of getting the TR body completed by this man for 2years. —WHY— He continued to reassure me with each visit by doing a little work on my project. HE HAD TO MANY IRONS IN THE FIRE and got burned when the guy he was leasing the shop space from told him to get out.😮  I am learning too, auto restoration are challenging, time consuming and 👁️ opening. It will roll down the road again, with or without a body.❤

Working on an assembly line building agriculture tractors for years I find your discovery old school technology of safety wiring critical hardware the best.
While most have substituted jam nuts on assembly on critical bolts, they are still required on aviation power plants.
Jam nuts are for one time use and  that's the beauty of drilled heads, they're field serviceable for reuse.
Once again, I really enjoyed your discovery path.

If you dont know, Withworth threads has a 55 degree thread profile angle, instead of 60 degrees like SAE or metric. Had me stumped what had "damaged" the threads i was dealing with the first time i came across withworth😂
