@Greyson-e8v

back in the day, people thought that this computer was very, very fast. The only reason people think that it is slow now is because we are used to all this stuff happening almost immediately.

@limalicious

What we "dealt with" was finally having access to something we never had before. It was normal because there was a literal nothing to compare it to before. Of course it seems slow when you compare it to today's progress. And while the progress is great in some respects, in others, it has created whiny, impatient brats with no attention span and an inability to appreciate something for what it was and what it meant in the time frame it came from. And I don't just mean technology, either--artwork, books, poetry, plays. You're not willing to understand these things within their historical context and therefore brush them off as annoying, outdated, and useless.

The thing was, resources were so universally limited that software developers had to be smart with how much resources they used. It really is a lost artform because so many developers these days neglect it in order to save money.

The thing is, they were slow, but web pages were generally less complex, so the load time wasn’t as bad as you’d think.
