Love the new Metaniums! Would love to see a video on how you are tuning yours for specifics techniques.
That Poison Adrena + Metanium setup looks 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I spooled it with 8 LB test mono for lighter lures, gave it some practice casts and found that it did cast well https://www.youtube.com/post/UgkxSlytCJqozTF7EbdP4LWP-HUXf9WRDJ0e , except that the anti-backlash setting had to be turned up almost all of the way to keep the "overcasts' ' down. I disassembled it, and found that if I potted some "shim washers" behind that anti-backlash magnet assembly, it got the magnets closer to the spool without rubbing, and I could get better control with about a 6 to 7 out out 10-Max setting. I also noticed that the handle shaft had some internal end play, maybe only 2 or 3 thousands of an inch, but it's still noticeable. If the anti-backlash and shaft tolerances were "tightened up" this would be a fantastic value. I've only used it for 4 days of fishing in a month's time, but I plan on keeping it.
Been using Shimano reels for almost 25 years. Exclusively. Never any issues. Great video
I have this Metanium and love it. The spool capacity is great for long casts too. It's light, smooth and doesn't backlash.
Thanks for the product review TB. I'll be looking forward to that new Curado review. Take care and cant wait to see y'all on the TVA chain!
I really liked the “Different reel speeds/techniques” overview you provided under the video. It’s nice to see a compact easy to look at review such as that. If possible, maybe do the same for rods on your next rod review. Thanks. Hope you’re enjoying the new house!
I have had my new Metanium paired with the Poison Adrena since April and I absolutely love that combo. I also use the Bantam with a G Loomis and I’m thrilled with both combos. I’m hoping to make a trip later this fall to Chickamauga with my brother, and stay with a friend who’s lived there for a few years, would love to connect. I’m thrilled for you guys to move to the area, and remember a few years ago when you visited Dale Hollow and Kentucky lake and other TVA fisheries....👍😎👍 welcome to your new home 👏👏👏
Rolling with the new Metanium on my MegaBass P5 Madbull! Incredible combo!
I’ve been fishing this reel for a few months. It’s unbelievable at light applications. Not quite BFS out of the box but damn close. It’s mostly on one of my bottom contact setups but I’ve used it for small top water like the pop-x or Rico, even threw a heddon tiny torpedo on it with no problems at all.
That new Curado 70 is gonna sell out fast everywhere. I can’t wait to see that review. And I even like to see the new Shimano SLX MGL 70.
It would be cool to see a tour of your new houses, or at least the backyards. I have two of the 150B HG reels. One I had to send back with a bad bearing. My only complaint with the new Metanium is I preferred the way the older versions palmed. Otherwise they are less finicky of a caster (exactly what Matt pointed out in this video) and the brass gears are awesome and should allow them to stay smooth longer. I'd also like to see a walk through of the Poison Adrena lineup. I have the 6'11 Medium Plus and I'm curious how it compares to the 7'3 MH and 7'2 H. I wish they would add a standard medium power spinning option.
Finally! Been waiting for this video since it was teased
Looks like Lake Chickamauga in the background! Can’t wait to see you guys on the water! Absolutely love the new 2020 Metanium!
When are you going to do the gear review 2020 ? Rods reels for under 200 and 400 ? Loved this videos
Just ordered one, thanks for your video it made a difference.
Imo the metanium is the best all around reel. Yes it’s expensive, but if you do your homework, you can get them shipped from Japan for under $300. There’s simply not a better reel out there for $280. It’s so smooth it’s a dream to fish. Quietest and smoothest reel I’ve owned.
I bought this reel in 2020. I primarily use it saltwater environments. After 4 years the chassis has begun to corrode and the screws are rusting despite cleaning after use and servicing every 2 years.
Review the Lews high-end vs the Shimano metanium. I've used both and know shimano is better but all the young guys have fallen into the wild colors and over priced trap. Like if you agree
