I be smoking that zaza
Ankara was chosen because it was where the new assembly was proclaimed
Istanbul was also named constantinopol before the whole collapse of the ottomans
So youβre telling me that Ataturk wanted to be as close to the zaza as possible?
No, it has nothing to do with secularism. In 1920, when the Turkish war of Independence was still going on, Mustafa Kemal changed the capital to Ankara because Istanbul was occupied by the british at the time (that is the most simplified i can tell).
Bro add Hatay to the map.
And If The Capital Will Be Δ°stanbul, The Most Of The Financal Things Like Factories Will Be Only In A City.

I tought all this time the capital was istanbul
it is also because ankara has alot of trade/transportarion routes passing trough like a lot From syria to iraq, iran leading to pakistan and eventually india, armenia and azerbaijan, georgia to south of russia and those roads pass trough ankara to reach istanbul (mostly, there are alternate routes that are used less) Edit: I typed somewhere "they" instead of "there"
Since Turkish is written in the Latin alphabet, you can spell Mustafa Kemal as Mustafa Kemal
It is not about forgetting past war of independence did not last 1 year it last 3-4 years we needed a council and we opened it in Ankara then because council was there Ankara stayed as capital
When I heard Ankara, I thought of Ankara Messi
"capital city 500 miles away from the minority ethinic groups is very far" Indonesia: π India: π
Ankara used to be home of the Galatian celts too
Ankara Messi
