No, it has nothing to do with secularism. In 1920, when the Turkish war of Independence was still going on, Mustafa Kemal changed the capital to Ankara because Istanbul was occupied by the british at the time (that is the most simplified i can tell).

it is also because ankara has alot of trade/transportarion routes passing trough like a lot
From syria to iraq, iran leading to pakistan and eventually india, armenia and azerbaijan, georgia to south of russia and those roads pass trough ankara to reach istanbul (mostly, there are alternate routes that are used less)
