Blender Novice: HOW DO I FUCKING MOVE???!!
Step 1 load in proper slicer, Step 2 add cube part ... place over with thickness of part. combine. export. print.
Don’t go into wire frame, every time I chunk a big piece from the stl 😊
I have spent hours trying to learn how to use blender in the past. Finally a video that just gets to the point and shows you exactly what to do.
this only works on models that have the text on flat surface. also depending on the text and topology it can create holes and or overlapping surfaces and that can be a real pain to avoid/remove. this almost always happens when you try it on non flat surfaces that have bad topology. stl models always will have bad topology because blender needs to generate the model surface when you import it.
Thank you, this saved me so much time! I didn't think it would work in wireframe because my model has text on both sides, but it worked! I was able to grab all the vertices from both engravings and dissolve vertices made both sides smooth.
You can also press C to get the circle cool, which lets you select with click drag, no shift needed. You can also use the scrollwheel to control the size of circle select.
Or just place a block of the same dimensions inside
Thanks. Im a pretty humble guy, I know when to show hold them and I know for sure when to fold them
You'll have a much easier time using the circular selection tool for selecting vertices press C and use it like a paint brush.
Dude, this is freaking AWESOME
What I do is import them into 123d design (the cad software I use for 3d modeling for 3d printing) and then just use a block that I fuse in the model or substract from the model, well aligned so it's flush
Great video! You made an hour long adventure turn into a 2 minute job. Subscribed!
S, Z, 0, then maybe G, Z with vertex snap on, choose a vertex on the same height, done. Yes the vertices are still there, but the text is gone.
Thanks a lot for this tutorial :3
exact instructions i was after thank you!!!
Wow. Thank you mate.
I would have just put a cube inside to fill the text. Not the best practice, but IMO better than potentially mangling geometry. What you've done is create a massive n-gon, if there were any other detail on the mesh it could potentially be compromised by triangulation during export.
Im an amateur blenderer who only does stuff for memes or games but, that topology is just wrong to me
